WHY GET CLARK RECONDITIONED CONNECTING RODS?
Approximately 50-60% of the rod bores we have checked are beyond the recommended out-of-round. As soon as the new bearing insert is installed it will assume the out
of round shape of the rod. Fewer rods are bent or twisted but we do find some. With CLARKS RECONDITIONED RODS you are assured of a rod as good or better than NEW!
All reconditioned rods come with new ARP bolts and nuts except for our $$ SAVER RODS. Your rods have a core value – see Price List.
5. WE SUGGEST YOU BUY RODS IN SETS!
GM did a good job of matching rods within an engine but from engine to engine they vary considerably. All CLARK SETS ARE MATCHED to factory
specs. When you order a separate rod it may have a different weight from the others in your engine.
3 Grades of Reconditioned Rods
#1 – REGULAR RECONDITIONED RODS
Rods are cleaned and checked for twists and offset. The pin hole is checked for size and the rod bolts are removed. A slight amount of material Is
accurately removed from the mating surface of the rod and rod cap. New bolts and nuts are installed and torqued to specs. The machine hones the
rod bore back to original factory size and trueness. For more detail and photos, see the TOUR section, page 420.
HIGH PERFORMANCE RODS
#2 – BALANCED:
These are treated like the regular rods PLUS they are balanced to within 1 gram.
#3 – LIGHTENED: These are treated like the regular rods PLUS they are lightened as much as possible, beam polished, magnafluxed and balanced
to within 1 gram.

GEAR – CAMSHAFT: 1960-69 ALL Stock CAST Aluminum C783X 1 lb.
CAST CAM GEAR IMPROVED – since April 2001 our cast cam gears are an improved version using all new tooling, a stronger
aluminum alloy and precision machining. You’ll notice the difference. Otto FAIL SAFE cam gear is designed for ultimate reliability.
Machined from solid aluminum for high strength, gear is heated in an oven to 500° and pressed into camshaft. A steel ring is then
heated and slipped on a boss on the gear around the shaft. When both cool this cam gear will not slip! With complete instructions.
See Camshafts. If you are ordering a cam we will install either gear correctly and you only have to order one part number.
